Explanation: As of October 15, 2012, 59 gram panchayats were provided with 100 mbps bandwidth connections each under three pilot projects, government data show. By December 2, 2018, 121,652 gram panchayats were connected with optical fibre, according to a Lok Sabha answer dated December 12, 2018.
As of May 2014, there were 134,956 common service centres (CSCs) of which 119,517 were connected, according to the Common Service Centres Scheme’s 2013-14 official report, not 83,000 as the PM claimed. As of November 30, 2018, India had 306,382 CSCs, according to Lok Sabha data. As of April 16, 2019, 255,798 of these are active, as per the official dashboard.
WiFi hotspots have been installed at 39,359 gram panchayats, of which 10,775 are working, according to this December 12, 2018 Lok Sabha answer.
