Claim: चार वर्ष पहले तक जहां देश के 40% घरों में ही टॉयलेट थे आज ये दायरा 90% से भी अधिक हो गया है: PM

Only 40% of the households in India had toilets 4 years ago. Now, more than 90% households have one.

Fact: Misleading. Swachh Bharat Abhiyan targets beneficiaries based on a 2012 baseline survey, and the list has not been updated since, leaving many households without access to a toilet.

Explanation: As per the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan dashboard, 38.70% households had toilets in 2014 and by September 2018, 88.86% had one. However, the scheme does not include all the households in the country. As per a 2018 Comptroller and Auditor General report, the scheme selected beneficiaries based on a baseline survey conducted in 2012 and the list has not been updated since, leaving many households without access to a toilet.
